Deloitte Consulting, one of the worldís leading consulting firms, provides services in all aspects of enterprise transformation, from strategy and processes to information technology and human resources.
Deloitte stood by their vision of being a ìworldwide leader in delivering innovative business solutions and services in the e-economyî when they considered a solution for their consultants time-and-expense reporting.
|
|
The Challenge:
Deloitte needed a more efficient means for their consultants to collect and input time-and-expense information.
Deloitte was also looking for a way to give front-line workers access to information traditionally locked away in back-office processes.
|
The Wireless Solution:
ìThe value is not from cutting the cable,î says Martin Dunsby of Deloitte, ìitís from the process change thatís enabled by the [wireless] technologyî.
Deloitte consultants now track an individual projectís time-and-expenses through a handheld wireless application.
Instead of waiting days for handwritten timesheets to reach the office and be keyed into the accounting system, data is transmitted immediately back to the head office where the invoice is issued automatically.
Salespeople also use the application to verify resources and retrieve a clientís technical support history.

Improved Cycle-time and Accuracy: Although entering the data into the handheld device is no quicker than filling out the paper form, the accuracy and automation of the electronic format has improved the cycle-time of collecting and processing the timesheet data from days to minutes. Invoices are more accurate and timely and help to improve accounts receivable collection averages.
Productivity: While salespeople are on-site, they can unobtrusively use their wireless handheld applications to retrieve customer information pertinent to close a sale.
